No Excuses!

May 30, 2010 |  by awaadster3  |  Blog

This post is dedicated to all Alfaisal Students who use exams and studying as an excuse not to have a social life or participate in campus activities. It is sad to see a few very dedicated students working hard to create a vibrant college life, and for a handful of students to participate. We're talking about less than 1/3 of the student body!!! No wonder we have a dull college experience. I extremely curious to hear about the culture shock some students...

Innovation of Breaking the Law

May 30, 2010 |  by awaadster3  |  Comedy

A while back I posted on a new system that set in motion by the Kingdom to curb traffic violations and restore some order on the streets. The system called Sahar consists of license plate recognition software that ticketed speedsters people cutting the light. Ever since its implementation, things have slowly gotten better. Amusingly, I think the crazy rumors are fueling people fears and are doing more to restore order than the actual Sahar system. Now, not...

Resist the Power

May 30, 2010 |  by awaadster3  |  Blog

As part of their True Life series, MTV has broadcasted a one-hour documentary on Saudi youth last Monday. Even before it was aired, Resist the Power, Saudi Arabia has attracted big attention. Opinion wise, I am on the fence on this one.  I have heard both sides of the argument and both sides have very valid arguments. However, the more I think about my limited experience here, I do believe there are more important issues to be addressed such as unemployment...

Brushing the Dirt Off

May 30, 2010 |  by awaadster3  |  Personal

And I am back, brushing off the dirt, mending my wounds. My head was in the clouds...... again. Came crashing down. Lost track of my responsibilities. Became reckless ...... again. Hurt those close to me ..... again. My faith weakened..... again. I am sick of not learning from my mistakes. Hiding behind the shadow. I need to get these training wheels off, rise up, and overcome. The past two weeks have been harsh to me. I was reminded of the past that I tried so hard to...

Thank You

May 21, 2010 |  by awaadster3  |  Blog

People usually celebrate yearly anniversaries, sites usually in decades. I honestly hope I can keep this going for a decade.  Nomadic Lounge has been live since December 12, 2009 and going strong for the past six months. I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone that made this a reality, to all the followers, and all the contributors.  I can only hope that this personal project brings about inspiration, knowledge of the Kingdom, and...

Cultural Difference: Car Wash

May 17, 2010 |  by awaadster3  |  Comedy

Like any American, I enjoy washing and waxing my car on a lazy Sunday morning. Your up early in your shorts and flip flops with the hose in one hand and a sponge in the other. As you open the garage door you are greeted by the neighbors who are doing the same thing with their dog running around enjoying a cool spray  from the hose. I assumed with all the car lovers here in...

Storm Chasers: Sand Storm

May 13, 2010 |  by awaadster3  |  Blog

I have been begging my friend to send me these pictures for weeks. He took them on his cell phone on is way to the desert. Take a look how a sand storm progresses. 1) Storm brewing in the Horizon 2)  Slowly making its way across the desert, getting bigger. (Notice the family taking a picnic in the background) 3) Storm engulfs the unsuspecting families out enjoying a desert picnic 4) Storm thickens and grounds all traffic to a...

Got Drafted into the NCAA, well sort of

May 10, 2010 |  by awaadster3  |  Sports

Sports has always been a huge part of my life, the physical aspect of it at least. I was never any good at remembering stats and player names off the top of my head. There is a long list of professional athletes that run in my family.  Thinking back I probably tried every popular sport, from playing softball in middle school and knocking my friend unconscious with one hell of a home run, football on...

Today Alfaisal University is hosting an open house for perspective students.  While combing though the medical newsletter (Med Times) picture database to put together a slide show,  I found some great campus shots and thought to share them.
