This post is dedicated to all Alfaisal Students who use exams and studying as an excuse not to have a social life or participate in campus activities. It is sad to see a few very dedicated students working hard to create a vibrant college life, and for a handful of students to participate. We’re talking about less than 1/3 of the student body!!! No wonder we have a dull college experience. I extremely curious to hear about the culture shock some students will encounter this summer when they travel to American universities for research.
The problem is not because we live in Saudi Arabia or that the administration is putting up some sort of road block. The real culprits are us, the students!
We find any excuse to isolate ourselves in our bedrooms, faces in a book or computer. Get a clue already! There is more to life!

I hate to say this, but I told you!!! When the university supports you, the students don’t!!
College of medicine of Alfaisal university, like any other medicine school around the globe, sets high expectations hoping the students can meet them, such as hard-working, follow-up studying, and passing challenging exams. Thus, students force themselves to hide inside the shell and try their best to stay isolated from any/all distractions they find around. The real problem is when they fail to distinguish between distractions and other activities (sports, drama, you name ‘em) that can be very helpful when considering them as soul refreshments and remarkable memories in the future.
I am still a UPP student, and I am a big fan of your claim that students need to stay socially active. However, I really feel scared when I think about it at the moment I recall that loads of study are awaiting me day by day, and feel afraid I may not be able to succeed in either my social life or academic life if I tried to use my two arms to hold both baskets. Sometimes, study is so heavy and requires you to crawl on the ground to follow up with the class.
Best Wishes,

But I really AM not the athletic type.
btw it’s ironic how i liked this on fb. makes it look as if i participated in the sports fest
I totally agree with, we’re the reason behind this. But maybe we need new ideas. And this’s why your sport initiative worked, because it’s just new.
