Sports has always been a huge part of my life, the physical aspect of it at least. I was never any good at remembering stats and player names off the top of my head. There is a long list of professional athletes that run in my family. Thinking back I probably tried every popular sport, from playing softball in middle school and knocking my friend unconscious with one hell of a home run, football on...

While combing though the medical newsletter (Med Times) picture database to put together a slide show, I found some great campus shots and thought to share them. Enjoy! We have been hit by a consistent barrage of sand storms, some engulfing you field of vision leaving your in a pitch black abyss. Then there was a wave of rain fall for about three weeks, until today when it took a turn for the worst, and the situation looks disastrous. From what I can see, it is a scary reminder of the Jeddah floods. People...

Its been great so far to gain that real word exposure and interaction with patients. And I am sure that the patients in the kingdom are no different from the patients elsewhere in the world, but there are cultural limitations that need to be taken into consideration. Arabs in general have a stigmata towards divulgence...

In addition, the local police began an awareness campaign and a show of force by placing officers at major traffic lights and fining anyone not...

Since my Khobar trip, I have been trying to coordinate a desert outing over e-mail, which proved to be semi successful. We ended up going a few days later than initially planned. The basic plan was to spend the day out in the desert, BBQ, frisbee (since I left...

I was going through some of my older posts and just realized that I have more food articles than well articles. What can I say, there is that many restaurants in Riyadh. I have yet to find a Panda Express or an all you can eat Chinese buffet (Rochester style for all Michiganders). Fast food Chinese is terrible here and the restaurants are amazing, but, there is no middle ground! The same goes for Sushi. There...

The eastern province is is full of color unlike the dull brownness of Riyadh. There is grass, tress, flowers everywhere and the weather is amazing. The city is engulfed with the sea and they made good use of the land too. There are parks and picnic grounds surrounding the water, where kids can be found running...
